For a week, we will look into voting and democracy, elections and abstentions, ideas and questions. We will listen to and discuss with scientists such as Dieter Roth, who founded one of the leading political polling groups of Germany, and Dorothée de Nève, author of the book «Nonvoters — a danger for democracy?»

We will meet with and challenge political parties, their youth associations and foundations.

And most importantly, we will be looking for young nonvoters in all parts of Berlin and give their choice a voice.

Add your voice and opinion, your talent and experience to our international seminar!

With 30 young Europeans we will – with the support of the European Union’s Youth in Action Programme – analyse and dissect voting and non-voting in dialogue with scientists and researchers, with politicians and journalists, with young voters and non-voters.

„What would it take to convince non-voters to use their democratic rights?“
„What would it take to convince democracy to grant these rights to more people?“

Our discussions and findings we will document through several kinds of young and self-made media – newspapers, photos, radio, video, websites and more – and throw some of our ideas back into the public debate ahead of the German federal elections in September.

We are looking forward to the addition of your critical mind and your honest voice!

The seminar takes place in Berlin at the youth hotel berlincity close to the city’s Kleistpark. Day of arrival is Sunday July 5, departures are foreseen for Sunday July 12; and we will work from Monday July 6 through to Saturday July 11. There will be plenty of opportunities to discover the exciting European city of Berlin – within and beyond the programme. We will cover your travel expenses as well as all expenses for board and lodging.
